March 10th

Late afternoon, Sofia's assistant stops Jimmy and I to tell us she's in the room opposite and would really like to say hello to me (well Jimmy actually). Go in to meet her. I HAVE TO ADMIT she couldn't be nicer... Do some snaps of the pair of them. This is so weird to meet her and take photos of her in the Park Hyatt.I take everything back about her film and her acting career. I give her a Zep T-shirt, feeling very guilty about my diary...........

Japanese 18th Gold Disk Award at NHK hall. I start to fall in love with Junko who's presenting the show. She speaks perfect English (turns out she grew up in East Croydon). The show's live, we are the only GAIJIN there. Hotei (Japanese guitarist on the Kill Bill soundtrack) presents the award.

Spend the day running around, CD hunting again. Jimmy is mobbed as usual. This time at least it's female fans. I get given a very nice gift of Precious magazine with Koyuki on the cover!!!

March 9th

Jimmy wants to have a look at guitars in Ochanomizu. They are very very very very overpriced. Jimmy has late afternoon TV interviews so I'm off to Shinjuku to look for LPs and singles.

We have a dinner with Warner's DVD (who have brought Jimmy over). It's a traditional Japanese restaurant with very nice girls in Kimonos waiting on us. We meet the new head of Asia Lachie Rutherford, a really nice guy. Masato, Toshikazu and the higher end of the Warner staff are there.

Can't remember why but tell Jimmy how I was with Def Leppard when they met him in Chicago in 1989..
We were landing listening to "In My Time Of Dying". As the band walk off the plane, Jimmy was waiting at the bottom of the steps. "Fuck me" says Joe. "It's Jimmy Page!". I'm standing next to Steve Clark who thrusts forward his pint of Vodka "have a drink Jim"... Jimmy knocks it back in one (we both stand there very impressed).
