The hottest day of the year. Drive
with the Count to Donnington. Get there to see a lot
of very drunk people. See the new Romeo and Juliet
(Laurence Baker and the Tattooed lady).
Take pictures of 2 very drunk PRs, Louise
Mayne and her bodyguard Stinker. Shoot Maiden, it's
a very high stage with everything very spread out.
Drive back to London straight after the show. |

May 29th
Hot day. See M/W in the morning walk her back
to her office. Go to the Plaza hotel with Oliver and Simon,
see Jimmy and Wilf (Jimmy's tour manager) wonder around
N.Y, shooting buildings and the Zep billboard above a
strip bar.
Catch 9:20pm flight to London. |
May 28th
In the evening, go to 5th and Sunset studios
to shoot Johnny Winter. Take pictures of the Empire
state building at dusk. Johnny comes in at 9pm, I am
shocked he is not in the best of health. Drinks straight
vodka by the pint and chain smokes through out the
session.
I am in a really weird frame of mind and feel like giving up. I just want to
go home. Actually I don't know what I want to do. I'm just unhappy.

May 27th
Press launch for the new Led Zeppelin DVD and live
album at Leows cinema on 34th street. Lots of collectable
Led Zep blimps hanging everywhere, get Oliver
to steal them. A fan comes up to me and he's convinced
that I'm Lars Ulrich (you know "Alright it's Laaaars").
Have dinner at the W hotel on Union square then
go to the party at a club called The Lobby. Nick
M/W's friend and slightly drunk PR from Atlantic records
introduces me to the Donnas who are very
nice. A foreign idiot who runs a Zep web
site thinks I am John Paul Jones (I can't look
that old...). He tries to shoot a photo of Jimmy and I. |
May 26th Bank holiday Monday. Drive to Putney to finish
my shoot with Flint, only problem is Keith doesn't show up.
Give up,
rush to Heathrow and catch the 1:20 flight to N.Y with M/W,
Oliver Halfin and my agent Simon.
May 24th Can't sleep all night. Arrival of M/W not very happy
about everything. I have to go and shoot Flint's (Keith Flint
of
the Prodigy) new band. A part from the fact that I'm falling
asleep Keith hasn't been to bed and is still completely pissed.
But as usual he's easy to deal with.
May 20th
Still at Hi Output at 12:30 am. Get a quick but great 15
minutes with Steven. He's tired but in a great mood.
Get up and fly home via Washington. The airport security
at Boston are cunts and I'm being generous here. Moronic old school
America.
May 19th
Shoot Aerosmith at Hi Output studios. They are making
a video. Do a studio session around this. |
May 17th Launch at the House of Blues for Joe Perry's new Gibson
Les Paul. The Porch Ghouls play and tell not very funny
jokes. Boston super star, Mike Verge is in the
audience, checking it all out.
May 16th
Shoot Aerosmith at Boneyard studios, Boston, recording
their new blues album. |

May 15th
Should be on the plane to Boston but it's all sold out due
to graduation week in the US so go to N.Y for the evening.
See a late night exhibition of Armour with M.W.
May 14th
Speak to the most helpful man in the music business Mike
Kobayashi. He's sorting out my trip to Boston to shoot Aerosmith.
Then I get Steven Tyler on the phone to go over what he wants
to shoot.
May 13th The John Entwistle auction..... Like a sad Who fan
that I am I get Matt Kent to buy me a Graham Lethbridge
painting of John.

May 12th
Drive to Southgate, the LOONG WAY across London.
It takes two and a half hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To
shoot the IRON MAIDEN at Denmark studios. I feel worn out
by the time I start. Steve Harris is not in a good mood,
due to the fact his sad football team "West Ham" have
been relegated. He's now vowed to support "Millwall".
Shoot Steve and Bruce, Nicko turns up in what looks
like pyjama bottoms. I meant to shoot a group shot, I give
up on the idea.
May 10th, 11th
The arrival of M.W, not very happy. Spend the weekend not
quite in nirvana.
May 7th
Go to the John Entwistle preview of his auction at Sotheby's.
It's quite sad. Everybody are acting like a bunch of vultures.
Full of middle aged sad drunk fans who should know better
playing his guitars and filming themselves on video.
May 5th
Bank holiday Monday. Get up at 6am, go to Heathrow
meet up with Jimmy Page and tour manager, Wilf Wright.
All going to Paris, they are doing Led Zeppelin press,
I'm going to look for photos for the Classic Hendrix
Genesis book. Good thing about flying with Jimmy is
we get to go in the BA first class lounge. Arrive in
Paris, it's miserable pouring with rain. Go to the
Plaza Athenee, very plush hotel, I head off to look
for Hendrix photos.
Back at the hotel mid afternoon, meet Yazid Manou,
a PR who by strange coincidence is a Hendrix fanatic.
Go shopping to Armani with J.P late afternoon. He's looking at black suits,
I'm looking at pink rubber flip-flops. Drop him off at 8pm, take the last flight
back to London
