March 27th

Go to Grandslam studios at 4pm to shoot Jaz Coleman and Dave Grohl. Jaz or Jeremy (his real name) is the singer of Killing Joke, he's also completely off his face when I arrive, drinking miniature whiskey (he seems to have an
endless supply and taking hits from a huge bong). 20 years ago I may have found this funny, today it is not, he's trying to be provocative but he's really just a rambling stoned drunk who quickly becomes uninteresting and
UNFUNNY. Dave, on the other hand, seems to be putting up with this with the patience of a saint. I just shoot it and get out as quick as I can.

Go to Tower records in the evening and take a photo of a giant AC/DC billboard with my photo on which I haven't been paid for and know nothing about.

March 25th

Shoot Edgar Winter, brother of Johnny at his house and on his roof. Very nice day in L.A. Wish all sessions could be this easy. His wife insists on giving me a bottle of champagne.

March 24th

Wake up early to go to the airport to find out we are now in the second Gulf war. Amazingly the flight is totally sold out.

As I'm landing in L.A the whole of L.A area from Big Bear onwards is covered in an amazing layer of clouds. Shoot out the window. It looks like something out of Lord of the Rings.

March 22, 2003

Had to go back up to the Metropolitan Hotel to meet Brad Tolinski again and go through the layout for Classic Hendrix with Sally Crick (Genesis Books).  Had a very nice lunch on Genesis.  Off to LA on Monday to finally do some work.

March 21, 2003

Got a copy of the Q Magazine special on Led Zeppelin.  Looks great.  Phil Alexander--a kind man--seemed over the moon.  Mark Blake and Dave Brolan have done a great job.  Met up with Jimmy Page at his house in London, went over to the Metropolitan Hotel, did quick pics for Guitar World feature for June.  Jimmy did an interview with Brad Tolinski.  Had dinner at Nobu with Jimmy, Brad, Greg (publisher), Kevin Shirley (engineer and mixer of new Zep CD & DVD), Kaz (my assistant--Kicks.  You can kick her when she gets things wrong) and the very lovely Maggie Wang (PR to the stars).  Ran into Gordon aka The Shadow (legendary underworld figure) with his chum Billy Frances (very famous tour manager--Sting, etc)
