June 28th
Janes Addiction. Culver Studios. Warm up show for tour.
Great light show. The band are very under rehearsed. |
June 27th
Culver Studios...Janes Addiction. Surprisingly Perry
Farrell is easy to deal with. Dave Navarro out-pose's
anyone I've ever seen. I try to get them to hug in
a group shot but Dave thinks it's far too homosexual.
See
Nuno from Extreme play at the Key club. His guitar
playing is good but his songs are dated and the lyrics
are embarrassing.
End up going to Silverlake to the Derby lounge. 40-50's
swing lounge, Paul (bass player of Slipknot is playing),
the place
has a great sound. |

June 25th
Take an 8:30am flight to Los Angeles. My body is still going
through 10 different time zones. Spend next few days sorting
out all the Aerosmith film.
June 24th
Very hot day. Shoot Aerosmith group shots in Duxbury.
Get photos of Steven and Joe with their Harley's. |
 |
June 23rd
Fly to Boston, have to shoot Aerosmith tomorrow.
June 19th
Back at home. Back to reality. Shoot a very nice Wes Borland
in a very hot and humid Kensal Rise - good thing he
wasn't painted, he would have melted!
June 18th Arrive home to find out I have to leave again on Sunday
or Monday. I'm jet lagged, stressed and depressed.....
June 16th
Get up at 3:45. Get to Angkor at 4:30, it's still
dark. Jimmy and I are the only people there. It's quite
magical. Hope I'm not sounding like a hippy... Climb
the temple. As the sun comes up, shoot it from the
east side. If I could do this for living instead of
shooting bands, I'll be quite happy. |
 |
 |
June 15th
5am and it's already light. Go to the temples, shooting
until midday. It's now too hot, sit by the pool. Late
afternoon, out to Banteay Srey (Citadel of the women)
on the way back see the most awe inspiring thunder
storm over Angkor Wat. Stop the car and spend half
an hour in a field shooting it from a distance of five
miles. |
June 14th
Fly via Bangkok to Cambodia (Siem Reap). It's very
quiet and very very hot. Go out for sunset to Angkor
Wat and Angkor Thom. |
 |
June 11th
Led Zep press launch at the Yamano music store
on the Ginza. Shoot Jimmy with blimps and English/Japanese
flags. |
 |
 |
June 10th
Wake up at 3:30am to a full on panic attack.
I have no idea where I am or what I'm doing. I just know I
can't breath... Walk around the room for an hour and
eventually go to sleep. Matt Kent wakes me up at 7:30am and
he's very
nice and positive (as I just want to get on a plane and come
home).
June 9th Tokyo. Arrive at 3:10. Staying at the Park Hyatt
hotel. Go out with Jimmy, robbing the record shops.
June 8th After being at home a whole day, flight to Tokyo with
Jimmy Page, Kicks and Jaquelyne Vilain (PR to the stars).
It
is day light over Russia, shoot the summer nights
sky.
June 6th Wake up, feeling like death. Another day of June gloom.
Sit around
all day. 6pm flight back to London.
June 5th
Up at 5am. Fly back to L.A, arrive to a very
overcast day. Shoot one of my heroes today, Loudon Wainwright
III... at
Neil Zlozower's studio in Hollywood. I am tonally fed
up by now with everything, flying, traveling, jet lag...and
my personal life. So do what most men do and go out and get
very drunk with Neil and Simon.
June 4th Up at 4am. Take 7:30 flight to Calgary via San
Francisco. TSA security won't let me carry on a light stand
as the fucking
morons think it's a dangerous weapon. The whole West
coast is covered in mist, shoot out the windows most of
the way. It's very very hot in Calgary. Sit outside
the venue and chat with Jason Newstead. The show is sold
out, I've never seen so many people in here (the Saddle
Dome). Before the show, shoot Ozzy and band in his dressing
room... He does not want to do this and look vacant through
the whole shoot. Do a quick pick of Voivod after they play.
Ozzy's show is great. He plays a lot from the "Blizzard
of Ozz" LP.
|
June 3rd
Up at 5am. Go to pick up my agent Simon who is drunk
and has not packed to leave. He's also lost his wallet
etc... Kicks flies to London I go to L.A. I'm tired
and pissed off. Sleep on the flight. Wake up just before
flying directly over the Grand Canyon. This is amazing,
I've never flown directly over it before. An American
couple opposite say aloud "Where are we? It looks
like the moon!" This could only happen in America.
|
June 2nd
Spend the day with Aerosmith, picking photos for their
tour book and etc. Take the 6pm shuttle back to N.Y. |
June 1st
Pack, sort out photos, leave with Kicks on the 1:20
flight to N.Y, land at 3:30 it's raining. Take a taxi
at 6:45 out to Giants stadium. Take pictures of the
fully armed New Jersey police. Get a great picture
of Steven's hand flipping me off as he arrives.
Shoot Aerosmith back stage and live which is hard as
the stage is so big. Aerosmith play a great version
of "Baby Please Don't Go". After the show,
fly from Titoboro airport to Boston. Speak to M/W at
midnight, strange going to N.Y and not seeing her. |
