Saw AC/DC a lot in my youth (pre-photography) at the Marquee ClubThey would do a residency every Monday and Wednesday (on the slow nights). They'd based themselves in London. When I first took up photography, I shot them there one night with no light show and only available light. Tried to find the pictures, but couldn't. I'll put them up if I'm ever able to; they weren't very good. I shot them three times with Bon Scott: The Marquee Club, Wembley August 18 '79 (opening for The Who) and at Hammersmith Odeon on the Power Age tour....these are the ones you see here. It was really hard to shoot as there was no photo pit and I had most of the audience on top of me, jumping up and down. The shots with the cannons, Angus and Malcolm backstage are from Newcastle City Hall on the For Those About To Rock Tour (another place with no photo pit and fucking awful to shoot live). The shots with the crowd are Donnington, 1981, Back In Black. The others are a mixture of Madison Square Garden and the Hammersmith Odeon--both Back In Black Tour. I've got colour of all of this--which I'll put up if I find it. The shots of Malcolm and Brian were done in the Metropolitan Hotel, London, 2001. |
